Welcome Dr. Alex
Dr. Alexandra Volarich is a naturopathic physician beginning her first year residency with Dr. David Chang and Dr. Lindsay Wilkinson at a clinic in Portland. As part of her residency, she will spend some time in our clinic in Canby, with Dr. Flanagan. She is scheduling patients beginning immediately for pelvic floor and mayan abdominal massage sessions. She can see urgent cases, give injections, do blood draws, and annual exams. All patients will be shared in the practice and follow-up care can be provided by Dr. Volarich or Dr. Flanagan. Insurance can be billed for services she provides. Please call to schedule with her and let us know if you have questions.
Welcome Dr. Alex!
Dr. Volarich graduated from the National University of Natural Medicine where she focused primarily on women’s health, pediatric-adolescent health, physical medicine, sexual wellness, mental health, and integrative pain management.
She has had success managing diabetes, high blood pressure, skin conditions, gastrointestinal dysfunction, fatigue, menstrual irregularities, hormonal imbalances, pelvic floor dysfunction, sleep disturbances, anxiety, and depression. She enjoys meeting patients at their own level and establishing a step-by-step goal oriented approach to wellness.
“My approach to practicing medicine revolves around establishing effective communication to build a healthy and trustworthy therapeutic relationship with my patients. I believe the body is always talking to us, and we must learn to recognize its language so we may understand the root of any systemic imbalance. Our medicine is structured around establishing the foundations of health, which is my favorite place to begin with new patients. By optimizing sleep, diet, stress, and support networks, we can watch together as many other elements of wellness fall into place.”
Bodywork and holistic pelvic care are two of Dr. Volarich’s favorite modalities. She believes these are great methods to help re-connect people with their bodies, as well as enabling her to build connections with each patient. She completed Dr. Kathryn Kloos’ Integrative Pelvic Therapy Certification Program, which consisted of over 250 hours of training in pelvic floor therapy, abdominal-uterine massage, trauma informed care, somatic dialogue, cupping therapy, and intuitive eating.
Dr. Volarich has also completed training in Neural-Prolotherapy and Integrative Pain Management Injection Therapy for a different approach to acute and chronic pain. She also enjoys using herbal medicine, nutrition, IV therapy, biotherapeutic drainage, and foundational medicine to help restore health homeostasis.
Prior to moving to Oregon in 2016 to begin her medical education, Dr. Volarich earned a Master of Science in Health Sciences from St. Louis University. She completed undergraduate studies in Biology at the University of Richmond in Virginia. In her free time she enjoys surfing, hiking, playing volleyball, and working with clay. She is an active member of Oceanic Global, which is devoted to preserving marine wildlife by reducing and removing plastic waste.
